Tales In A Daydream [ACT III SCENE IV]

A castle in Arcadia

[Enter Walter, Lordes, elders and guards]

Lordes, Walter and the elders sit at a table in one of the conference rooms in the innermost part of the castle. The guards stand at the gates of the conference.

Prince Lordes: Be seated. I called upon you to announce my trip to Venus. The reason, you need not. But I say, two followers and two guards I require. Two moons left. I shall embark on this trip with my honourable. Assistant, Walter. [Smiling] Any word to them? [to Walter]

Walter: Uhh… it’s been about a decade since my honour spoke in this manner. His earnestness prevails, I say. His spoken word is final. Without any offense, alas.

First Elder: My Prince, farewell since you would be far-flung but why had you not told us earlier?

Lordes: For that reason ye are in my presence. I called ye hither about my voyage to Venus.

Second Elder: Lordes, If I may ask, how many nights to spend there?

Lordes: I’m clueless. It were not just my word but my thought. There would be a surprise for you. So I bid you adieu.

First elder: Be more explicit, your honour. Do not complicate things.

Lordes: Be not a twerp, Stanley! [scowling] Speak no more.

Third Elder: Twice, every wise man thinketh. Do what your heart dictates. If you err, you face your trials. If you gain, you meet your success.

Lordes: Wise. [Applauding] Each follower or elder I appoint must be in support of my mission. Understood?

All: Yes, your honour.

Fourth Elder: We are of keen minds. We are in support of your decision, Prince.

Fifth Elder: Ay… I second. [stamping his feet and his rod]

Walter: It is indeed obvious that our honourable Prince Lordes is being cogent here. No say anymore.

Lordes: Our first and last gathering is today’s. If I do not appear before you again then I’m off. A bientôt. Je suis fatigué et j’ ai besoins de dormir.
[Exit Walter, Lordes and guards]

First Elder: His own intentions will eat him all up. Whipper-snapper. I abhor him. [scowling]

Third Elder: I doubt he knows or understands whereof he speaks. Poor Lordes.

Second Elder: Learn to love, fellows.

Fourth Elder: I’m off.
[Exit forth elder]

[whispers]

Second Elder: Ay… Enough. Let’s end this convo, fellows. Lets get outta here. I’m already craving for some beer.

Third Elder: Ugh! You’re a beer addict. No wonder your beard is as grey as your hair.

Second Elder: Keep your mouth shut before I report you to Lordes.

Third Elder: Ay, Ay Captain.

[Exeunt]
