Tales In A Daydream [ACT II Scene I]

A castle in Arcadia .

It’s nine hours past midday and Prince Lordes, the current Prince of Arcadia is dressed in a richly embellished cloak with reaching to the knees under which he wears black leggings. There’s a golden belt girded around his waist. At his right hand is his personal assistant, Ham Walter who is clothed in a simple a long gown and sleeveless tunics under which he wears blue stockings. He sits with Prince Lordes at a table in one of the conference rooms located in the courtyard of the castle.

Prince Lordes: The walls of my noble land are going to collapse. I’m stepping out to Venus in search for one of those young virgins to quench my thirst.

Walter: My Prince, what do you mean? What thinketh you?

Lordes: Ha! Don’t be a little freak! [pulling down Walter’s chin and drawing closer to him] I need to get everything I want. I loathe my very presence whenever I find myself wanting.

Walter: I believe so but my Prince, you’re speaking in parables. What’s your point my Prince?

Lordes: Walter [pauses], be not too honest a man. Your senses are gifts from above. I mean your head is not as empty as I want to deem it. There’s a gift inside it. Could you do me the favor by utilizing it please? Efficient use of gifts bring forth the fruit of pleasure and satisfaction but abundant obedience matches stupidity. You are a man of virtue and a man of value so act on your values, fellow!

Walter: I know of all this, Prince. But enlighten me more on your mission to Venus.

Lordes: Ooo! It seems the cat cannot sense the meat I’m roasting. [showing disappointment] All I am saying is that I desire a companion. I need a goddess! A sparkling jewel; a woman I mean.

Walter: You’re not a god. You are but a mere Prince. And if you indeed desire to have a companion why not from your native home. Your honor, you ate and drank together with your brothers of this town and now you move away in search of a woman? Why such haste??!

Lordes: Shut it! You know nothing, Walter! Watch my honorable steps honey[smiling]

Walter: Yes, my Lord. [frowns]

Lordes: How it would have been much satisfactory if that lady was meant to be on my heart. But it is the opposite.

Walter: But my Lord I thought you desired to have your companion. My humbleness though; you mean you have your own intentions? This seems so unpleasant.

Lordes: Unpleasant indeed! Walter… I told you earlier that you needed to wise up.

Walter: The insect that hovers around noisily can be killed by just one violent slap. Have a keen heart and ear to hear me out, my honorable Prince Lordes. The warriors of our noble land go into war with courage, they have that faith, my Lord. But [pauses], do they come back in their numbers? No. Don’t go forth and tarnish your father’s image. His honor was a great leader. For his sake you are on this throne in this kingdom. Watch out Prince. Not all that we desire is what we deserve. [sighs]

Lordes: A bird that is determined to build its nest within just a day is never convinced. I had wanted to decide, but with my sense of determination I’m pushed. [yawning] I’m too tired, Walter. Myalgia, I suppose. Allow me. Let’s talk when day breaks. It’s midnight already.

Walter: My Prince, do not allow for your heart to be king. Sometimes you need to consider your honorable throne.[Lordes turns back to look at him and moves to his room] What at all does this Prince want in life? He must be insane; perhaps he drank too much beer. Well, let’s watch out when the cock crows.

[Exit Walter]
